RAISE IT UP was commissioned as part of Bristol City Council’s Primary Bristol Programme.
Developed with children and adults at Compass Point Primary School through a series of workshops and visits, RAISE IT UP is a site for playful intervals within the school day. The permanent installation consists of a set of four flags, a flagpole and a moveable octagonal edible garden – the installation is activated by a specially designed book of actions, scores and prompts. Intervals can be instigated by anyone at any time by asking for the book from reception.
RAISE IT UP might be used to mark the beginning of a new term, day or week; to celebrate a class’s achievement; to welcome a new pupil or cleaner; to build a break into a busy day; to expel or create some energy.
